Accidents Happen   

A 12 year old boy from Taiwan has accidentally ruined a £1million painting after tripping up and putting his hand through the 350 year old painting.

The painting is by Paolo Parpara, it is an oil on canvas painting of flowers as seen in the picture.

Fortunately for the young boy and his family the painting is insured and the organisers won’t be seeking damages to pay for the restoration of the painting. Accidents happen and the boy isn’t being blamed!

Which lead us to ask, what other expensive artefacts have been ruined by accidents?

Pablo Picasso’s Le Reve. Steve Wynn, a casino resort developer purchased the painting in 2001 for $139million. However, as he was talking and making a grand gesture, he put his elbow through the painting, costing $90,000 to repair.

Qing Dynasty Vase – Whilst on display in the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, a 42 year old man tripped over his shoe lace, fell down a stair case straight into the Qing Dynasty Vases, smashing the 17^th Century vases, valued at £500,000, into tiny pieces.

George Harrison’s Tree – A few years after the former Beetle passed away, a tree was planted in his memory. Unfortunately, the tree was ironically killed by Beetles…
