Last week it was ruled that passengers have 6 years to make a compensation claim for a flight delays.
Ryanair argued that the claimants had 2 years to make a claim against the airline, as they had agreed to their terms and conditions which prevented any claims older than 2 years. However, HH Judge Platts ruled in favour of the passengers who had suffered an 8 hour flight delay in 2008 and waited 5 years and 8 months to make a claim.
Under a previous Supreme Court Judgement, airline passengers were allowed 6 years to claim for Flight Delays.
HH Judge Platt found that the airline were in breach of article 15 of the EU Flight delay regulations by attempting to restrict or limit their duty under the regulations.
The decision is expected to bring further claims against the airline and likely to affect 2.66million customers of Ryanair alone, with an estimated £610m to be paid in compensation.
